Reading and Math Buddy Program
Give the gift of time to your local school and community. Volunteer to be a reading and math buddy with a child at Watkins Elementary School. It’s easy, it’s fun and it’s a great way to build reading and math fluency in children.

In addition to parent volunteers, this year the Cluster is inviting its older students to serve as buddies for younger students.
Training designed to orient interested volunteers in strategies for being an effective reading and math buddy were held in the Fall. If you missed these sessions but still want to be a buddy, please contact Mr. Watson (ClusterMathLab@gmail.com) or Ms. Belcoure (Cynthia.Belcuore@dc.gov) to be linked with a student at a time and day that works for you.
To ensure the safety of our students, all volunteers are required to be fingerprinted. If you participated in a previous DCPS fingerprinting event, you are ready to volunteer. If not, simply check in with Ms. Douglas-Williams, Assistant Principal at Watkins, for the forms and instructions.
