Spring
Capitol Hill Classic — Sunday, May 20: Volunteer Sign-up>>>
Volunteers needed for a variety of jobs: posting signs on race route, assembling and distributing race packets, directing and cheering on runners during the race, mile-marker marshalls, and event clean-up.
This year we’re hoping to make it even easier for volunteers to get involved. We’re using VolunteerSpot (the online calendar sign up and reminder tool) to schedule and coordinate race volunteers.
Here’s how it works in 3 easy steps:
1) Click the link below to go to our invitation page on VolunteerSpot:
http://tinyurl.com/Capitol-
2) Enter your email address. (No registration required!) Please note: VolunteerSpot does not share your email address with anyone or send spam emails.
3) Find a volunteer activity that works for your schedule, including:
**Post signs along the race route alerting the neighborhood about street closures (May 11-13)
**Assemble race packets (May 17)
**Staff the table at packet pickup (May 18-20)
**Race day (May 20): Race setup/cleanup, staff the table at bag check, direct and cheer on runners at mile markers and points in between

Fall
Renovator’s House Tour – Need volunteers in advance to solicit sponsorships, plan brochures and posters, write the house descriptions, sell tickets, and promote the event. Lots of volunteers needed on House Tour Day to serve as docents in the houses. It’s fun to volunteer with a friend and spend part of the day as a docent, and part of the day on the tour.
Open Houses – Need parent volunteers to greet visitors, provide hospitality, and answer questions from prospective families and parents.
Back to School Night – A night of useful information and fun for the family.
Beautification Day – Come help get the campus and classrooms ready before school starts. Lots of jobs for adults (painting, building shelves, rearranging classrooms) and kids (cleaning, organizing books, etc.). This is a great way to get your kids excited to come back to school.
Winter
Open Houses – Need parent volunteers to greet visitors, provide hospitality, and answer questions from prospective families and parents.
Special Fundraisers – Various fundraisers in the past include Ecotulips, Greenraising, Gift Cards, and a Wine Raffle. Need volunteers for coordination, promotion, and fulfillment.
MLK Day of Service – Volunteer for a school clean-up day. Information made available prior to the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.
